Local Driver CDL B- Roll Off Driver
Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Local Driver will have a valid Class B CDL. This person will have a positive attitude, be willing to work as a strong team member, be a dependable and professional team leader, and be neat in appearance. 

 

REPORTS TO: Fleet Manager

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Always utilizes defensive driving techniques and follows traffic laws 
  • Maintains logs and records according to regulations as required 
  • Performs deliveries, pickups, loading and unloading when needed 
  • Submits to random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations 
  • Keeps medical certificate up to date
  • Keeps commercial driver license up to date 
  • Operates company equipment in accordance with established safety procedures 
  • Superb communication
  • Perform timely deliveries for customers 
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers 
  • Keeps a clean vehicle 
  • Inspect trucks and record issues 
  • Report mechanical problems to maintenance personnel
  • Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position.
  • Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Properly drive and utilize a forklift
  • Perform physical labor tasks as assigned


Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • CDL Class B

COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines 
  • Basic mechanical knowledge 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, and lifting 
  • Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  
  • Visual Acuity: ability to operate machinery and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned including to make general observations.
