GEO Next Generation High School is a part of a network of high-quality charter schools managed by the GEO Foundation. It joins GEO Prep Academy and GEO Prep Mid-City, delivering a high-quality K-12 learning experience to parents and students in the Baton Rouge community. GEO Next Generation High School is a tuition-free, public charter school that will begin with 9th grade and add a grade each year over the subsequent three years. Our teachers cultivate critical thinking skills students need to understand how the world works around them. Through our partnership with the local community college, our students will be able to take dual credit courses with the opportunity to earn college credit at no cost to the student. ABOUT THE POSITION:
To provide opportunities for a specific student growth, focusing on an assigned student who are deficient in learning skills, have some behavior issues and lack a positive self-esteem.
REPORTS TO/TERM:
School Leadership and Director of SPED
This is a 10-month / Full Time position.
Essential Key Functions:
- Instruct identified ESS student
- Maintain accurate and complete records of the progress log, attendance log, exit form, and student data form for the
- assigned student.
- Attend ESS staff meetings and IEP meetings for the assigned student.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the ESS teacher, Sped Coordinator, and/or Principal
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provide intervention for all subject areas to the assigned student.
- Accompany the assigned student to all scheduled classes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Some ESS experience or experience dealing with behavioral kids
- Ability to use technology to support instruction; access and manipulate data; communicate and collaborate with ESS teachers and assigned student parents.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents, skill in oral and written communication.
- Organizational Skills
- The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being of the assigned student.
