Primary purpose:
The Director of Project Delivery is responsible for ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across the organization’s federal and commercial contracts by establishing scalable delivery practices, effective governance structures, strong resource coordination, and operational excellence. This position is part of the Project Delivery Division and partners closely with executive leadership, division leaders, and business development teams to support successful contract execution, organizational growth, and continuous improvement in delivery performance.
The Director will oversee and monitor the division’s contributions to company-wide profit and loss and leverage their division budget as an additional data point when making decisions that include additional cost considerations. They will ensure staff within the division integrate into Lantana’s culture and are thriving in their current roles. The Director will contribute to workforce planning initiatives and ensure we have a long-term vision for building a project delivery workforce that aligns our strategic vision.
A successful candidate will do the following:
Project Delivery Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for delivery operations across multiple federal contracts and commercial client engagements
- Partner with cross company leadership to prioritize resources and align delivery operations with strategic business objectives
- Establish and scale delivery governance frameworks, operational standards, and best practices to support consistent execution
- Lead operational readiness planning for new contract awards, onboarding, and transition activities
- Maintain accountability and drive high-quality delivery performance, resource utilization, and operational efficiency
- Monitor portfolio health, delivery risks, staffing capacity, financial performance, and operational metrics
Team Management
- Lead and develop a team of project delivery and delivery support professionals through coaching, mentorship, and career development
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the division
- Promote employee engagement and reinforce Lantana’s organizational culture and values
Operational Excellence and Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized project management and delivery processes
- Drive operational improvement initiatives that enhance delivery effectiveness, client support, and organizational scalability
- Contribute to organizational growth planning and the development of scalable delivery infrastructure
- Support client relationship management and delivery-related business development efforts as needed
- Active Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification with 10+ years of certification history
- Bachelor’s degree in a health, technical, or management field (such as health informatics, public health, information systems, computer science, or business administration)
- Expert knowledge of project management principles and practices, including experience leading large federal contracting programs with responsibility for budget, scope, schedule, and delivery performance
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide high performing cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience managing delivery organizations in a federal consulting environment
- Extensive experience in Federal government contracting
- Ability to make difficult performance decisions and exercise clear decision authority and ownership of outcomes
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a health, technical, or management field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience managing delivery in a federal consulting environment for CDC, CMS, or federal healthcare IT programs
- Experience with Business Unit Profit & Loss accountability and demonstrated success with organic project growth
- Experience scaling Project Management Office or portfolio governance functions including leading or supporting the adoption of Agile delivery, process maturity, and cybersecurity governance frameworks such as SAFe, CMMI, CMMC, and related standards
