We are looking for a Plant Supervisor to join our team at Recycling Services of Florida. As a Plant Supervisor, you will ensure the highest standards of Environmental Safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the recycling facility and efficiently controlling costs on site. Daily reporting and meeting with the General Manager.
Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform their essential duty. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Ensures smooth operation of the site, including but not limited to: production, sorting, loading, unloading, inventory, and labor.
- Minimizes handling and operational costs.
- Continually works to reduce turnaround time for trucks in and out of the site.
- Regularly proposes means of operational improvement.
- Complies with OSHA and EPA regulations and ensures adherence to Safe work practices to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Assists in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
- Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the equipment through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with supervisors/employees and the maintenance shop.
- Overseeing personnel needs of the Site, including time and attendance, selecting, coaching, and training employees, and evaluating employees’ performance. Provides input to the GM on termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Conducts and/or attends and contributes to daily safety/toolbox meetings.
- Provides training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
- Updates and submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Assist with production as needed. Ability and skill in operating forklifts, skid steers, bucket front-end loaders, and yard trucks are a required.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, baler, sort line, and conveyor systems.
- Effective communication skills a must.
- Class A CDL preferred.
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the ability to lead and coach employees. This includes:
- Direct/Indirect supervision of full-time employees, including Leads, Drivers, Equipment Operators, Maintenance Mechanics, Sorters, and Operational Support.
Qualifications
- The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to do the job: Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Business Administration, or similar area of study, or in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years of industry work experience in a leadership role.
- Experience: 5 years of previous work experience (in addition to the education requirement) with at least 3 years being in a leadership role.
- Must be bilingual - Spanish speaking.

- Ability to organize various office systems/stations through adjusting, connecting, lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, or folding for the purpose of proper records development, office functions, and/or management.
- Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard, mouse, or other related equipment, throughout the workday while sitting at a desk or workstation.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, or stand for long periods of time. In addition, individuals must be able to reach above their shoulders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
