Description

National Forest Foundation (NFF) is pleased to offer an Exempt, Full-time position. The People & Culture Generalist will provide support and specialized experience aligned with Human Resources professionals. 


About the NFF: As the official national partner to the US Forest Service (USFS), the National Forest Foundation was chartered by Congress in 1993. Today, the NFF advances forest resiliency, healthy watersheds and wildlife habitat, and recreation for all by working with communities and organizations across the country. The Foundation has grown significantly in the last few years in programmatic impact, revenue and support, and organizational capacity. NFF leads with impact, deploying roughly 90% of its expenses towards projects and programs across the country’s 193-million-acre National Forest System. NFF is forward-thinking and innovative, with ambitious strategies and goals to advance and prepare forests for a new economy. 

Position Function: The People & Culture Generalist reports to the People & Culture Business Partner. This is a new position responsible for supporting core process, coordination, as well as HRIS and front-line staff support.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: The People & Culture Generalist will:

  • Responds to common employee questions on benefits, policies, and payroll coordination.
  • Maintains HRIS data accuracy and personnel records,
  • Track key HR metrics and identify trends to generate reports for leadership decision-making,
  • Assists with performance cycle administration and training.
  • Provides administrative support for employee relations documentation.
  • Ensures compliance across multi-state employment environments, including workplace safety, OSHA requirements, and workers compensation intake.
  • Supports engagement strategies and culture initiatives.
  • Administers employee benefits programs and serves as a liaison with benefit providers.
  • Process benefit enrollments and changes, audit carrier invoices, and submit approved billing Payables; partner with payroll on accurate deductions.
  • Assists with annual benefits open enrollment and communication materials.
  • Support leave of absence requests, communicating leave policies, and procedures.
  • Promotes a respectful, inclusive workplace aligned with NFF’s core values.
  • Demonstrates NFF values in all interactions and HR processes.
  • Escalates complex or sensitive issues to P&C leadership as appropriate.

 
Education and Qualifications: NFF expects the People & Culture Generalist to possess the following educational and experiential qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of human resources experience.
  • A high school diploma and the minimum years of experience required. Associates degree preferred. 
  • Must have advanced skills using Paylocity as an HR professional.
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience supporting benefits administration and have a clear understanding of benefit management across multiple states. 
  • Must have experience managing family leave programs across multiple states.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft 360 applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Location: The location for this position is flexible throughout the lower 48 states. This position is a remote/work-from-home position and requires reliable internet access and a dedicated workspace.


Compensation: NFF offers a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our total rewards strategy. The starting salary range for this position is $68,000 to $82,750, with the ability to grow to $97,500 based on performance outcomes over time and assessed annually. NFF monitors mandated state minimum wage updates. Individual state conditions will be honored during the offer process.
