Job Summary
The Manager, HR Operations & Employee Relations is responsible for leading the organization’s Employee Relations and performance management processes and overseeing core HR Operations functions, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, and HR Compliance. This role partners closely with leaders to guide performance-related decisions, manage workplace investigations, and ensure consistent application of employee practices in alignment with company policies and applicable laws. The Manager provides oversight across assigned HR operational functions to support effective service delivery, operational consistency, and risk mitigation.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
· Owns and manages the end-to-end performance management process, including coaching managers on performance management, documentation, and tracking.
· Serves as the central owner of all Employee Relations matters, including investigations, policy violations, and workplace concerns.
· Conducts prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations, ensuring appropriate documentation and defensible outcomes.
· Advises managers on employee performance issues, risk mitigation, and appropriate actions.
· Develops and delivers guidance and training to strengthen performance management practices and documentation.
· Ensures consistent application of policies and practices across the organization.
· Identifies trends in performance management and ER matters and recommends proactive solutions.
· Provides operational oversight and support across HR Operations functions, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, and HR Compliance, partnering with internal team members and external vendors to support effective service delivery and issue resolution.
· Ensures HR operational processes are accurate, efficient, and scalable.
· Partners with HRBPs and HR leadership to ensure alignment and effective execution of people practices.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including Employee Relations and HR Operations exposure.
· Strong Employee Relations background, including independent management of investigations and complex employee situations.
· Demonstrated ability to coach and influence managers through performance-related decisions.
· Experience operating at an HR Manager level or equivalent leadership capacity, including ownership of Employee Relations decisions and performance management outcomes.
· Experience overseeing or supporting HR Operations functions, including Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, HRIS, and HR Compliance.
· Experience managing or supporting cross-functional operational functions and processes.
· Ability to assess risk and make sound decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.
· Strong judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
· Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to guide leaders through complex situations.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in English is necessary for job-related communication, including understanding policies, writing correspondence, and engaging with colleagues or clients.
Working Environment
· The office environment is a controlled indoor setting with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
· Noise levels in the office are typically moderate and consistent with a standard office setting.
· For employees approved to work in a hybrid or remote setting, a quiet, private workspace free from significant distractions is required to ensure productivity during work hours.
· A reliable internet connection is required for hybrid/remote work. EMS|MC will provide necessary equipment, including a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset.
Physical Requirements
· Sitting: frequent and prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer.
· Communication: frequent and prolonged periods of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
· Fine motor skills: frequent use of hands for typing and operating a computer mouse.
· Movement: occasional walking and climbing of stairs; limited bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying of office-related items.
· Travel: must be able to travel occasionally to attend required company meetings.
Pay range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, with final compensation based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and business needs.
