From your PASSION to ours:

Lactalis USA, part of the Lactalis family of companies, is currently hiring a Quality Assurance Specialist I based in Buffalo, New York.

  

**Work hours: Tuesday-Friday 7:00 am – 4:30 pm and Saturday – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm**Slight flexibility with hours if needed.  

Summary: The QA Specialist will assist the QA Manager in managing the flow of process deviation investigations and quality hold resolutions. As needed, the QA Specialist will support projects related to new or changing products. The QA Specialist will support, maintain and update several processes, including environmental testing, reporting, product sampling, and ingredient testing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:


1. Will be responsible for the Environmental Monitoring Program.

a. Sampling & Swabbing Program to support the Environmental Monitoring Program, this includes Finished Product Sampling,       Swabbing, and Environmental Sampling. 

b. Manages shipments of samples and manages reported results.

2. Responsible for the Air Monitoring and Water Sampling Programs, including sample collection and preparation, result interpretation and reporting, and facilitation of corrective action as appropriate.

3. Understand Raw to Pasteurized Product Flow, High to Low-Risk Zones and Air Flow monitoring, as well as the importance of preventing cross contamination of samples 

4. Collect/prepare samples for management review and sensory evaluation. 

5. Will need to be trained and participate in the Plant Sensory Jury, this includes consuming dairy products. 

6. Provide management with appropriate information related to quality and food safety, this includes being able to deliver data and observations, then communicating issues pertaining to non-conforming products, such as out-of-spec analytics and microbiological results. 

7. Executes quality assurance programs to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products

8. Be able to understand 1 NYCRR PART 2 OF THE AGRICULTURE & MARKETS LAW, this will include monthly sampling and 90-day sanitation audits. 

9. Support the Quality Systems Manager in implementing the requirements laid out by FSSC 22000 and ISO 9001, to include but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practice Audits, Glass & Hard Plastic Audits and Metal Detector Audits. 

10. Establish, implement, and continually improve quality / food safety programs including GMP / Hygiene, HACCP, Allergen Control, Hold & Release, Cleaning & Sanitation, CAPA, Pest Management, Traceability & Recall, Customer Feedback, GFSI Standard, Organic & other System Certifications etc.

11. Computer skills relating to ERP system, being able to release products based on established release criteria, as well as creating and dispositioning holds.  

12. Behave in a professional manner that always represents the Company in the highest ethical standard.

13. Provide support to lab staff as needed, and deploy investigations as appropriately assigned or requested.

14. Obtain NYS licenses for Milk Receiving & Antibiotic Testing, HTST/Pasteurization and testing requirements.

Requirements

 Education:

  •  High School Diploma is required.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years (entry level). 
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds (consistently).
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Outlook, Excel and Word are necessary. 
  • Strong communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently. 
  • Sense of responsibility and willingness to go above and beyond. 
  • Previous plant or quality experience a plus but not required. 
  • Good time management and prioritization required. 
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively when required.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in software platforms is essential to the execution of job tasks.
