The Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist role is responsible for implementing VPI’s overall recruitment strategy with the goal of attracting and hiring qualified new talent to our agency. The role is also responsible for onboarding new employees and interns to the company. The Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist reports to the Director of Employee Relations for support and supervision.
Location: 404 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02134.
Essential Functions:
- Partner with hiring managers to understand job requirements and staffing needs.
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates.
- Administer the full-cycle new employee onboarding.
- Craft employees offer letters.
- Post open positions on various job boards, including colleges, career websites, social media, and other industry specific sites.
- Attend job fairs, college campus recruitment events and other recruitment initiatives.
- Source candidates, evaluate and screen resumes, conduct initial phone screens, perform reference checks, review hiring packets for approval. Maintain communication with qualified candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Maintain the Agency’s applicant tracking system (Paylocity).
- Help prepare interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
- Assist hiring managers with updating application statuses and train hiring managers, as needed.
- Run and review background checks.
- Remain current on recruitment compliance standards and new initiatives.
- Support HR-related projects, including employee engagement initiatives, HR process improvements, and compliance initiatives.
- Provide general support to the HR team as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
- 1-2 years’ experience in HR with a demonstrated ability to source and screen candidates required.
- Proficient computer skills, including Google Suite required.
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and recruitment technologies, such as LinkedIn, Indeed and Handshake.
- Knowledge of recruitment laws and best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for outstanding customer service.
- Strong attention to detail, high level of professionalism, discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong organizational/time management skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task, set and drive priorities, monitor progress towards goals, and utilize data and information.
- The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of standard practices in HR policy and procedure.
- Knowledge of Canva or other graphic design software preferred.
Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Monday - Friday. Hybrid eligible after 90 days.
Rate: $30.24/hr
