Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting patient care by performing clinical and administrative duties under the direction of a physician or licensed provider. Responsibilities include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, taking vital signs, updating medical histories, assisting with exams and procedures, administering medications, and ensuring accurate documentation in the medical record. The MA ensures a smooth patient flow and delivers care that meets professional standards, while maintaining patient confidentiality and a positive experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Greet patients, schedule appointments, manage incoming calls, verify patient information, and collect payments.
  •  Obtain and record vital signs including blood pressure, weight, height, heart rate, temperature, respiration, and O2 saturation.
  •  Update patient medical history, including weight changes, surgeries, current medications, diagnoses, allergies, family medical history, births, and deaths.
  •  Apply the nursing process—assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation—addressing physical and psychosocial patient needs, within scope and standards of care.
  •  Perform general nursing care such as administering medications and treatments, providing immunizations, wound care, and assisting with clinical procedures under physician supervision.
  •  Prepare for and assist with clinical procedures, including instrument preparation, specimen labeling, wound care, suture removal, and immunizations.
Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  •  High school diploma or equivalent.
  •  Medical assistant certification required. Registration is preferred.
  •  Current CPR certification is required.
  •  Related experience preferred.
  •  Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Proficient with computer systems and electronic medical records.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 25-50 pounds.
  •  Frequent standing and walking for long periods (up to 8-10 hours/day).
  •  Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and reach overhead frequently.
  •  Manual dexterity to operate medical equipment and perform clinical procedures.
  •  Visual acuity to read charts, labels, and assess patient conditions.
  •  Auditory ability to hear auscultatory sounds (e.g., blood pressure, heart sounds).
  •  Capacity to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding and emotionally sensitive environment while maintaining concentration and professionalism.
  •  Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by infection control policies.

Salary Description
$16 - $21 per hour - Depending on Experience
