Description
We are seeking a hands-on Machine Shop Manager to lead CNC and manual machining operations. This role is responsible for driving production performance, ensuring quality, managing schedules, and leading a skilled team in a fast-paced, high-mix environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily machine shop operations (CNC & manual)
- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work to meet delivery, quality, and cost goals
- Develop production schedules and optimize workflow
- Establish machining processes, routings, and labor standards
- Oversee materials, tooling, and subcontracted processes
- Support quoting, RFQs, and purchasing activities
- Lead machining projects from kickoff through completion
- Serve as a technical expert and troubleshoot machining issues
- Train and mentor employees on equipment and processes
- Drive 5S and ensure compliance with safety and ISO 9001 standards
Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of machining experience with leadership responsibility
- Extensive CNC experience (Vertical & Turning Centers required; Horizontal preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, G-code, tooling, and setup
- Experience with FANUC controls (Okuma a plus)
- CAM programming experience (Mastercam preferred)
- Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing
- Lean manufacturing and process improvement experience
