Position Overview:

Our Meat Cutters are responsible for ensuring the meat cases are well-stocked with fresh, high-quality meat, poultry and fish products; they receive, stock, cut, grind, wrap, weigh, price and attractively merchandise all meat department products. They ensure proper inventory control and product rotation to maximize product freshness and availability, while minimizing waste.  Meat Cutters are also responsible for providing genuine and compassionate “extra mile” service to our guests.  

• At least 1 year in a professional kitchen environment or equivalent      experience 
• Previous meat & seafood retail environment experience preferred 
• Previous experience in breaking down primal cuts of meat preferred 
• Previous experience working with local, organic products and familiarity with      standards regarding local, organic products is preferred 

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensures that all items (meat and seafood) in back stock are properly placed in the cases or on shelves  
• Oversees daily merchandising and product maintenance; makes sure shelves are fully stocked, organized, clean and that product has proper representation/facing on shelves; ensures all product is pulled to the front of the shelves and has an organized appearance 
• Shelf tag maintenance – makes sure all products have accurate tags and communicates needs for any changes 
• Continually organizes back stock to ensure all products lacking shelf space availability are organized and maintained  
• Maintains cleanliness of shelving, coolers and cooler doors, as needed 
• Cuts, trims, bones, ties and grinds meats and whole animals such as beef, pork, poultry, veal, lamb, venison, and fish, and ensures minimal waste 
• Wraps, weighs, labels and prices product accurately and per protocol 
• Assists with receiving as necessary and verifies that all product has been received as noted on invoices and that charges are as expected 
• Provides customers with exemplary service through availability on the sales floor; completing special orders, doing research, and providing educational materials/information  

Location: 3065 Route 50, Saratoga Springs, NY

Hours: Full-time, open availability and weekend availability preferred

Pay: Starts at $18.50/hr, previous experience will be taken into consideration
