VOAC supports veteran’s efforts to exit homelessness as well as provides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence. Wherever VOAC goes, it combines relationship-building, volunteers and quality services to lift and support our neighbor’s efforts to become self-sufficient and reach their full potential.


** The Handyman Lead Specialist manages day-to-day operations of the Safety of Seniors/Handyman Program, which provides fall-prevention support and minor home repairs for adults age 60+. The role ensures compliance with Volunteers of America guidelines and is responsible for recruiting and coordinating volunteers, collecting and maintaining data, and implementing the home safety assessment program. The position also completes key administrative work, including answering calls, processing service requests, maintaining records, and coordinating communication among clients, volunteers, and partner agencies 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Program Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Denver Handyman Program, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery, while also      providing support to the Larimer County program as needed to maintain continuity of services and meet regional program demands.
  • Recruit, onboard and train volunteers.
  • Receive service requests via phone, conduct intake assessments, evaluate repair needs, and document all relevant details.
  • Ensure that the voices of older adults are heard and that their ideas play a central role in program development. 
  • Clearly communicate program service limitations and available assistance to clients.
  • Accurately enter and maintain client and service data in ServTracker, ensuring records are current, complete, and well      documented.
  • Maintain an up-to-date referral list and connect clients with appropriate resources as needed. 
  • Conduct follow-up contacts with clients to assess satisfaction, address concerns, and support continuous program      improvement. 
  • Assist with grant reporting and documentation to support funding requirements and compliance. 
  • Process invoices in accordance with VOAC procedures and vendor requirements, ensuring accuracy and timely submission. 
  • Coordinate with volunteers and Handyman Technicians to assign and schedule service requests.
  • Analyze service data, demographic trends, and best practices to ensure services meet the evolving needs of older adults. 
  • Plan and implement outreach efforts to increase awareness of program services and educate the community on the needs of      older adults. 
  • Monitor and manage program inventory, including tools, materials, and supplies required for minor repairs. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety and risk management procedures, including proper documentation of client interactions. 
  • Support recruitment, orientation, and recognition of volunteers and Handyman Technicians to meet program needs. 
  • Serve as a backup for minor handyman repairs when needed, while maintaining a primary focus on administrative coordination      and program management. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in alignment with program goals.

· Provide 1,500 Units of Service to our community members

· Increase program volunteer engagement by 10%


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Driving in company vehicle(s) to a variety of locations occasionally in adverse weather conditions.

• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and the ability to quickly adjust focus

• Ability to lift 25 pounds.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Full Time Non-Exempt

• Monday – Friday 8am – 4:30pm and designated holidays.

• Evening and/or weekend hours may be required based on program events or assigned job duties.


Salary: $21.00-$23.00/hr

Minimum Qualifications of Position

• Strong communication and customer service skills

• Bachelor’s degree in related area or the equivalent relevant experience.

• Own transportation, valid Colorado driver’s license, and proof of insurance.

• Pass criminal background check and is bondable.


Preferred Qualifications of Position

• Experience in or knowledge of general handyman services, including minor plumbing, carpentry, and electrical repairs.

• Volunteer Management Experience

• Fluent in Spanish


Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Good organizational skills.

• Demonstrated proficiency to utilize computer applications in a Windows and Microsoft Office environment.
