Primary purpose: Supports employees and managers across Lantana Consulting Group by delivering practical, employee-focused guidance and support for Human Resources. Works closely with managers to support day-to-day HR needs, including performance management, employee relations, and core talent processes, while aligning with Lantana’s policies, values, and employment practices. Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of HR programs and processes across the organization. Reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and works closely with a small HR team to deliver high-quality, consistent HR services.
A successful candidate will do the following:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related matters, including policies, benefits, leave programs, performance management, and employee relations
- Manage and support current members of the HR team; provide direction, coaching, and oversight to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of HR services across the organization
- Provide practical guidance and support to managers on day-to-day employee matters, including development conversations, performance feedback, and corrective action
- Build trust by handling sensitive employee matters with discretion, fairness, and integrity
- Support the management of employee-benefits programs, including health and welfare plans and open enrollment; ensuring compliance; and working closely with brokers and third-party vendors
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to support hiring efforts and ensure a consistent and positive experience for candidates and new hires
- Conduct exit interviews and manage offboarding processes to gather insights and support continuous improvement
- Assist in the design, maintenance, and ongoing refinement of job descriptions, job leveling frameworks, and compensation structures in alignment with company standards and legal requirements
- Support the performance-review process by providing tools, guidance, and training to managers and employees
- Ensure HR programs, practices, and documentation comply with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws
- Facilitate and deliver training related to leadership development, performance management, and employee engagement
- Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations and recommend updates policies and procedures to maintain organizational compliance
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, templates, and resources across the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of seven years of progressive HR experience partnering with managers and employees across the organization and serving as a trusted advisor on people strategy, performance management, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and the full employee lifecycle
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build trust at all levels of the organization
- Experience using Paylocity or a similar HRIS to support core HR functions such as onboarding, benefits administration, performance management, reporting, and management of employee data
- Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work independently in a distributed, remote environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional partners
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience supporting HR functions within a government contracting environment
- Experience working in an employee-owned (ESOP) organization
- Experience supporting a distributed workforce in a consulting, health IT, or professional-services environment
