Description

This position will report to the Billing Manager. Billing Coordinator will be responsible for a variety of tasks requiring data analysis, in-depth evaluation, and sound judgment. Daily duties will include maintaining billing software, appealing denied claims, and Accounts Receivable follow up activities. Ability to multi-task, good communication skills, team player yet quick independent thinker with a strong work ethic a must.


Duties

· Handles complex patients’ complaints and issues by explaining company policies and guidelines as well as those involving compliance issues with state and federal regulations

· Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses

· Process and follow up on payer denials, consulting with the patient and/or his or her family as needed

· Communicating with insurance company representatives to track payments, research denials, and any other claims follow up activity.

· Effective use payor portal or other payor resources to ensure efficiency

· Research and resolve insurance billing problems or issues, submitting appeals as needed

· Review AR aging to ensure compliance

· Carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines

· Submit reimbursement requests to Medicaid and Commercial Payors

· Maintains confidentiality of all information.

· Follow policies and procedures related to performance metrics

· Performs other duties as required.

Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Experience with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Problem Solving/Analysis skills
  • Experience with electronic billing and records systems
  • Effective time management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
  • Experience with ABA billing required



Physical demands:

Under normal circumstances the employee will need to have the physical capacity to continuously use his/her hands for simple and firm grasping and fine manipulation. The employee may be required to do the following:

  • Physically able to bend, stand, stoop, or sit for long periods of time
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Push / Pull up to 50 lbs.
