Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, training, coaching, and supervising all Early Head Start management staff.
  • Evaluating staff performance and providing ongoing professional development opportunities. 
  • Creating and maintaining a positive work environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork. 
  • Delegating tasks and responsibilities effectively. 
  • Promoting training that meets team and individual needs.
  • Ensuring adequate systems in place to maintain highest quality of EHS services to children and families in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Ensuring coordination among components for consistency in service delivery.
  • Participate in the monthly vitals process, utilizing program data for continuous quality improvement.
  • Ensure family engagement practices and opportunities are consistently in place.
  • Ensure EHS program practices are strengths based and goal oriented.
  • Support staff knowledge, skills and on-going practices related to the OHS relationship-based competencies.
  • Ensuring adherence to all federal, state, and local regulations related to Early Head Start programs. 
  • Managing service area budgets, including allocating funds for staff, supplies, and program operations. 
  • Coordinating annual Program Information Report (PIR) as it relates to EHS.
  • Building partnerships with local community agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive support services for families. 
  • Participating in community events and outreach initiatives to promote Early Head Start programs. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.

Requirements


Talents, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field 
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills 
  • Knowledge of Head Start performance standards and federal regulations, preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, families, and staff 
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on program needs 
  • Ability to apply advanced knowledge of cultural situations involved with the child and family
  • Knowledge of community, social, health, and educational resources
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment and be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • Ability to participate as a team member 
  • Ability to utilize reflective supervision 
  • Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in the English language
  • Must be organized with the ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and to work independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to interact effectively and build strong working relationships with various levels of staff, community and child care partners and families.
  • Able to operate common office equipment and be proficient calendaring, word processing and other needed computer and electronic device skills, with the ability to learn and to effectively utilize new technologies.
  • Possess a valid Montana driver’s license and be insurable under the agency’s automobile policy
  • Must be able to successfully pass fingerprint/criminal background checks.
