Position Overview

This position is responsible in the day-to-day operations of the distribution location. This is a working supervisor role and key responsibilities include dispatching and managing deliveries / pickups, customer service, pulling/receiving parts, and other warehouse work as necessary.


Essential Functions

  • Effectively train/coach location staff on company procedures and expectations enabling location to maximize sales and profit
  • Handle employee relations issues as required
  • Communicate with internal and external customers as needed
  • Route deliveries and product in a high-volume, fast-paced distribution center
  • Supervise performance of the dispatch team so that business objectives are optimally achieved
  • Complete Performance reviews on direct reports
  • Operate computer system to schedule, route, and track daily service
  • Monitor daily warehouse and delivery volume and expense
  • Maintain schedules of Independent Carriers
  • Responsible for communicating with designated supervisor on timely updates on arrivals, departures and customer discrepancies
  • Audit all aspects of the location to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and checklists
  • Evaluate and maintain the location safety and security checklist
  • Inspect all delivery vehicles and ensure that the vehicles are safe and maintained within company standards
  • Assist the Safety Director with investigating and reviewing all accidents and incidents involving employees and ensure correct action is taken
  • Responsible for ensuring monthly safety meetings are being conducted in accordance to DOT regulations
  • Monitor metrics from Roadnet, in addition to existing distribution information, to help improve profitability and the overall customer experience
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent relevant experience with 5 or more years’ experience in Retail logistics, warehousing and distribution
  • Experience in controlling expenses and budget management
  • Ability to lead others and ability to influence others without formal authority; excellent verbal & written communication skills; innovativeness; integrity and trust; results oriented; action biased/self-starter; deals with ambiguity; business acumen and organizational savvy; customer focus; good listening skills; excellent analytical ability; outstanding planning and negotiation skills; work in a fast-paced environment with excellent time management skills; knowledge of distribution, transportation, logistics and supply chain management
  • Ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary problems, which must consider short and intermediate, term company-wide planning
  • Ability to improve existing systems/procedures which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Outlook and MS Excel
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience required
  • Experience in the industrial gas business preferred

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt, and on-site position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, and range from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The compensation range reflects WestAir’s good-faith estimate for the base compensation expected at the time of posting. Compensation offered will be determined by the job-related factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, education, and geographic location.
