Summary

IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The role of the ATC functions as a liaison between patients, athletes, physicians, physical therapists, and administration. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing superior care to patients and clients, providing athletic training coverage at various events, and educating the public on health-related awareness/prevention topics. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best community experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and provide excellent patient care.
  • Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI.
  • Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, coaches and parents regarding patient conditions, plan of care, treatments, and protocols.
  • Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations.
  • Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.
  • Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintaining patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Participates in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach.
  • Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics
  • Ability to perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing.
  • Outreach ATCs are expected to provide medical coverage at games, practices and/or tournaments. These events will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Program Coordinator and may include weekend and/or evening events.
  • Return voicemail and email messages in a timely manner.
  • Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing.
  • Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time by the supervisor
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Requirements


Education

  • Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program

Certifications/Licensure

  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Hold or eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing

Experience

  • Strong rehabilitation skill set preferred
  • Additional manual therapy or sports performance background preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in a physician or physical therapy clinic preferred, but not required

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge in medical terminology preferred

Soft Skills

  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to function as a team leader

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
  • Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
  • Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day

Base salary offers for this position may vary based on factors such as location, skills and relevant experience. Salary Description
$55,000-$65,000/annually
