Mortgage Underwriters are detailed-oriented people who will thrive in a time sensitive and sophisticated environment. Underwriters provide support to the Home Equity Team Leader, Mortgage Origination Team, and Lenders. They proactively work with lenders and clients to analyze Home Equity application files to determine product qualifications, while ensuring documentation collected and calculations meet internal policy and ensure compliance standards are being met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with lenders, clients, administrative staff and management to ensure that complete and accurate documentation has been received and analyzed for qualification
- Accurately calculate a variety of different income situations
- Provide timely communication and follow up on assigned loan files
- Appropriately prioritize efforts and focus on timeliness in a fast-paced work environment
- Ensure documentation collected and calculations meet internal policy and compliance standards
- Provide support to the lenders and Home Equity Team Leader

POSITION LEVEL(S) EXPECTATIONS
- Level I: Basic functions of the LOS system for underwriting, simple income calculations for all employment types
- Level II: Intermediate knowledge of the LOS system for underwriting, intermediate income calculations for all employment types
- Level III: Intensive knowledge of the LOS system for underwriting, complex income calculations for all employment types. Ability to underwrite Private Banking loans

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential position requirement satisfactorily and a skills inventory is listed below. A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Secondary education with related experience preferred. A background screening will be conducted.
Position level will be commensurate with knowledge, experience and education.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret documents. Possesses professional communication and interpersonal skills to write and speak effectively both one-on-one and before groups of clients or employees of the organization. Ability to communicate with clients directly and effectively.
- TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Ability to utilize telephone systems and possess good digital literacy including email, internet and intranet use. Prior experience or the ability to learn core transaction system, Empower, statement processing system, and any other computer programs pertinent to performing job duties.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve challenging problems involving several variables in a standardized situation.

This position operates professionally in an office environment with considerable time spent at a desk using office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Noise level is moderate with constant communication and interactions with others. Ability to travel on occasion to all market areas and attend seminars or training sessions offsite.
