**The Cook – Residential prepares and packages meals for delivery to residential sites, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. This role manages onsite food and supply inventory, supports receiving sites with inventory tracking, and assists with food production across the program as needed, including Child Nutrition and staff meals.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Works with Community Contract Meal Services Lead to prepare hot and cold menu items as specified, following recipes, under the Kitchen Manager supervision.

· Assists with preparing, cooking and packaging nutritious meals and snacks for children in accordance with CACFP meal pattern requirements, Head Start Performance Standards, and all applicable health and sanitation guidelines.

· Uses acquired culinary skills to produce high quality products, ensuring excellent taste, appearance, texture and client acceptability.

· Portions and packages food according to number of meals ordered, minimizing waste and leftover items.

· Using menu plans, requisitions product and supplies in advance to ensure accuracy and efficient workflow.

· Maintains a safe, clean work area and strictly follows proper sanitation policies.

· Ensures product safety by always employing proper temperature controls.

· Uses and maintains kitchen equipment in a clean, safe, and appropriate manner.

· Chills and properly stores any unused product or leftovers.

· Prepares special event meals and requested items as directed by the Kitchen Manager.

· Attend all meetings and Agency training as required.

· Direct, train, or assist other kitchen employees, temporary workers, or volunteers.

· Assists in other sections of the kitchen to ensure kitchen production needs are met

· Performs all other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

· Frequent exposure to heat, cold, steam and fumes, including walk-in refrigeration and freezers.

· Uses knives, utensils, and commercial cooking equipment throughout shift.

· Stand, pivot, and walk on hard surface majority of shift.

· Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

· Occasional exposure to chemicals and cleaning solvents.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

· Full time, Monday-Friday, 5 AM-1:30 PM unless otherwise specified.

· 4915 E 52nd Avenue Commerce City


Pay Range: $20.00-$21.00/hr

Requirements


Competencies

· Prepare quantity soups and casserole dishes.

· Assemble sauces and gravies.

· Roast, Bake, Braise, or Steam meats, starches, and vegetables.

· Cleans and organizes workstation and equipment.


Minimum Qualifications of Position

· Two Years’ experience in a high-volume kitchen

· Ability to read and write, following standardized recipes. Ability to perform basic kitchen mathematical calculations

· Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.

· Servsafe certified or ability to acquire certification within 90 days of hire.

· Satisfactory regular attendance and timeliness.
