Toledo Tool & Die is seeking a Materials Manager to lead our materials, shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics operations at our Bennett facility.



This newly created leadership position will play a key role in restructuring our Shipping & Receiving department, improving material flow, and partnering closely with Operations to ensure customer requirements and production deadlines are consistently achieved.


This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is based in Toledo, Ohio.


Hours for this position are primarily 1st Shift (Monday-Friday), however flexibility is required to support operational needs, customer requirements, and urgent business situations outside of normal business hours.

WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT FOR THIS POSITION:

• Experience leading Materials, Supply Chain, Shipping & Receiving, Logistics, or Inventory functions within a manufacturing environment
• Automotive manufacturing experience preferred
• Strong ERP/MRP experience (Plex preferred)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own all Incoming and outgoing shipments, including raw material, WIP, Out to Process, and finished goods

• Manage the Plex ERP system to ensure data integrity, automate shipping documentation, and eliminate manual record-keeping errors.

• Minimizing cost by planning freight, reviewing releases, and ensuring production schedules meet customer expectations.

• Lead the cycle counting program and annual physical inventories, achieving a target of >99% accuracy. 

• Oversee the organization of warehouse inventory, ensuring logical placement, clear labeling, and space utilization to support smooth operations. 

• Ensure all shipments meet customer/vendor-specific labeling/packaging requirements. Serve as the point of contact for logistics audits.

• Manage and develop department personnel through goal setting, KPI tracking, and cross-training to ensure adequate training to support customer shipping requirements  

• Monitor department personnel to ensure Compliance with all safety policies and procedures



Requirements

  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, Operations, or a related field or 10 years related experience in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
  • 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems. Plex preferred
  • Experience managing inventory control and production planning processes
  • Automotive Tier I or Tier II supplier experience preferred. 


GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent communication skills for relaying information (verbally and in-writing) between other employees, direct reports, customers and vendors/suppliers
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically. 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction.
  • Ability to take direction, coaching, and act positively to improve performance.
  • Requires strong mathematical and analytical skills


SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, and web-site software
  • Has the ability to learn new software systems and data management systems quickly
