The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a non-profit, social service agency founded upon Jewish ethics and values.

The Center provides and initiates diversified social, educational, recreational and cultural programs within a Jewish setting.

The JCC is a partner in serving the community, is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte.


Qualifications / Attributes:

The JFORCE Coach must demonstrate the ability to lead small group training sessions with positive energy and effective communication, offering support and motivation for members of the Levine JCC with a variety of fitness levels and abilities. Build a community within a results-driven environment, able to adapt to change and feedback, and follow the direction of the JFORCE Program Manager.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Program planning, instruction and delivery:

· Lead small group personal training sessions of 4 – 20 participants.

· Demonstrate and coach proper exercise technique and movement patterns.

· Modify exercises to accommodate various fitness levels, limitations and injuries.

· Prepare the class space ahead of time with organized equipment, music and class plans.

· Begin and end class on time, adhering to the scheduled format and duration.

· Maintain appropriate attire and demeanor as a representative of the Levine JCC.

· Keep certifications current and on file with the Levine JCC.

· Ensure all workouts are approved by the JFORCE Program Manager and in line with the purpose and goals of the JFORCE program.

· Conduct fitness assessments and goal-setting consultations within a trainer’s scope of practice.

· Track client progress and communicate recommendations for continued improvement.


Member Engagement and experience:

· Provide excellent customer service to JFORCE Program participants, potential participants, and all members of the Levine JCC.

· Assist in maintaining social media posts for JFORCE participants and marketing purposes.

· Create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.

· Build positive relationships with members, learning names and encouraging consistent attendance.

· Promote a culture of wellness and body positivity.

· Assist in recruiting and retaining JFORCE Program participants as directed by the JFORCE Program Manager.


Safety and Risk Management:

· Ensure all exercises are executed safely and with proper form.

· Monitor participants for signs of fatigue, discomfort, or improper technique and provide appropriate guidance or modifications.

· Follow all Levine JCC safety procedures and incident protocols.

· Respond to accidents, incidents and emergencies appropriately, calmly and professionally.

· Ensure equipment is properly used, cleaned and maintained.

· Maintain knowledge of and enforce Levine JCC rules and policies.


Collaboration and Communication:

· Meet regularly with JFORCE Program Manager and other coaches for program planning, development, review and evaluation.

· Communicate effectively with the JFORCE Program Manager and other JFORCE Coaches about schedule changes, class needs, or member concerns.

· Demonstrate a willingness to accept coaching, feedback and ongoing training from leadership and fellow staff members.

· Learn and effectively implement JFORCE programming philosophies, class structures and coaching standards.

· Be open to feedback and follow the chain of command for problem solving.

· Maintain a willingness to attend occasional staff meetings, trainings, or special events.

· Promote cooperation, participation, and harmony within the Department of Fitness and Wellness and the LJCC as a whole, creating a sense of collegiality and professionalism in the team environment.


Decision Making by Co-determination:

The JFORCE Coach makes independent decisions when necessary, regarding responsiveness to safety of equipment and facilities, as well as member and program user needs and concerns.

Requirements
  •  Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, ISSA, NSCA or equivalent).
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of building relationships with members
  • Ability to address concerns and complaints with professionalism and customer service as the focus.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; customer-service orientation with specific strength in diplomacy and discretion strongly preferred.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Available on a regular basis, keeping planned absences to a minimum.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with members, staff and vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

Demonstrate skills in leadership, organization, creativity, and flexibility, as well as the ability to make connections and provide equality and inclusion for members of diverse populations.


Possess knowledge of or willingness to learn, Judaic culture and traditions including but not limited to Jewish holidays, rituals, and customs.


Possess the ability to articulate the influences of Judaic culture on our programs to members and staff. Be sensitive to cultural differences, demonstrate flexibility and enthusiasm in work style, create a positive and harmonious workplace, effectively manage time and responsibilities, and understand individual leadership styles and their influence on the well-being of the department staff.


Must have the ability to maintain a flexible working schedule to accommodate the JFORCE Program and the Department of Fitness and Wellness.


Must also have the ability to work as part of a team with other staff members and members. Must promote high standards of program excellence; resolve conflict effectively and demonstrate maturity as well as the ability to get along with a variety of people; respond effectively to constructive criticism and give constructive feedback to colleagues, and ensure that an environment which fosters maximum physical, social, cognitive and emotional development is developed and maintained.


Must be physically capable of manual labor that includes lifting, bending, and reaching. Must be able to operate Fitness machinery including Cardio and Weight training machinery. Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to reach overhead and to the floor repeatedly in a shift. Must be able to work 8 hour shifts standing.
