Position Summary:
Candidate would be a member of the CUBRC Aerosciences group involved with high-speed wind tunnel testing. Primary responsibilities include development of optical and laser-based diagnostics to support testing. Complex diagnostics require precise design, alignment/set-up, characterization, and rigorous posttest analysis including various image processing techniques, data reduction algorithm development, and calibration.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Ph.D. in physics or related engineering discipline required
· 10+ years of related experience
· Expert knowledge of optical and laser systems
· Ability to work independently or larger groups as needed
· Follow established safety procedures, operational guidelines
· Work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and other team members to support testing schedules and operational needs
· Strong communication skills
· Candidate must be prepared to occasionally work extended hours and travel occasionally.

Compensation
Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000 commensurate with experience and education
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work is primarily performed in a laboratory, testing, and industrial environment
- Position may require standing, bending, lifting, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and remain eligible for a US Department of Defense security clearance.
