JOB TITLE: Cash Receipts Technician
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Accounting
SUPERVISOR: Chief Financial Officer
SALARY RANGE: $15 to $21 an hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.
JOB SUMMARY: The Cash Receipts Technician is an entry level accounting position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. The position verifies, deposits and records all cash receipts and cash transfers for all enterprises and governmental grants and contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Preparing daily bank deposits for all cash and checks received
· Recording and verifying of all cash transfers between tribal accounts
· Verifying information on daily deposit reports before inputting into the accounting software
· Posting of Cash Receipts and Accounts Receivable payments to accounting system
· Monitoring accounts receivable balances for all enterprises and funds
· Researching inquiries for cash deposits and transfers
· Answering internal and external customer inquiries
· Checks work for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to accounting standards
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Perform other duties and projects as required by management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrate experience with basic knowledge of accounting principles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree preferred but not required
- 2 years related experience
- Experience in an electronic cash receipts processing environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Type approximately 50 keystrokes per minute.
- Must be proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets and Word documents
- Must have knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, techniques, and terminology
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- The ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new skills
- Team oriented person who can focus on the details
- The ability to deal effectively with tight period end closings
- The ability to work effectively in a high growth environment and rapidly changing organization
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record and store accounting information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for long periods of time, occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions
- Occasional lifting( up to 25 lbs)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment
