Greenville University is seeking a Custodial Technician responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment across campus facilities, including academic buildings, administrative offices, residence halls, and common areas. This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations by ensuring that all spaces are clean, sanitary, and presentable for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors and other surfaces.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners as needed.
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, including fixtures and supplies.
- Restock paper products, soap, and other necessary supplies.
- Clean windows, glass doors, and interior surfaces.
- Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns in a timely manner.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for campus events, meetings, and special functions.
- Follow established safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Perform seasonal or deep cleaning duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
- Work performed throughout campus buildings and occasional outdoor areas.
- May require early morning, evening, or weekend shifts depending on operational needs.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying environmental conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods.
