This is how you will grow:
The Functional Safety Engineer will be responsible for creating functional safety standards in accordance with ISO26262 and other relevant industry norms future EE/HW/SW systems must comply with.
This role will be critical in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating potential hazards throughout the development
lifecycle of vehicle systems and components. The Engineer will lead the definition and development of functional safety concepts at the system, hardware, and software levels, and later support validation ensuring that all safety goals and ASIL (Automotive Safety Integrity Level) requirements are met.
- Work with team members to ensure HARAs (Hazard and Risk Analyses) are completed properly, classify risks using the ASIL system, and define functional safety goals and system responses to prevent accidents.
- Support translation of high-level safety requirements into detailed hardware and software requirements and specification of diagnostic requirements.
- Assist with conducting FTAs (Fault Tree Analyses) and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analyses).
- Coordinate root-causes analysis and engineering teams and suppliers when safety issues arise.
- Generate work products and reports to document the safety status of a given project.
- Participate in safety assessments, audits, and the creation of safety cases for final vehicle homologation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders through system āVā development from concept to launch with design reviews and CFT.
- Domain/working knowledge of SW controls, EE, Electronics, and expertise in development, testing and validation methods of mechatronics systems.
This is how you will take us forward:
- Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or similar
- Preferred Masters in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Systems Engineering
- Extensive experience working with Automotive EE architectures (both Domain, Distributed) from Powertrain, Body, etc.
- Strong understanding of 1st principles in Engineering, result/solution oriented
- Heavy travel first 2- 4 weeks of project
- Subject matter expert in Systems Engineering, Multi-domain physics, Complex systems design with EE, SW integration.
- Experience with embedded systems such as wiring and power distribution units
- Familiarity with CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, and/or other automotive communication protocols
