The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for supporting daily warehouse operations and assisting Operations leadership in ensuring accurate, safe, efficient, and timely order fulfillment. This position provides leadership and direction to warehouse teams, supports labor planning, monitors productivity and quality standards, and helps drive operational execution across assigned departments.


The Assistant Operations Manager partners with Operations leadership, Client Services, Inventory Management, Quality Control, Order Processing, Production, and other cross-functional teams to support business needs, meet client expectations, maintain compliance with safety and quality standards, and achieve site performance goals.


This position may oversee or support multiple operational functions, including Production, Pick/Pack, Order Selection, Order Processing, Quality Control, Receiving, Replenishment, Putaway, Inventory Management, Retail, Returns, Special Projects, Value-Added Services, or other assigned warehouse functions based on site needs.

Requirements

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  1. Support daily warehouse operations to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient order fulfillment.
  2. Assist with planning, organizing, and executing daily and weekly labor plans based on volume, staffing, priorities, and business needs.
  3. Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to warehouse associates, team leads, production leads, quality control associates, order processing associates, and other assigned team members.
  4. Monitor  workflow, production schedules, productivity, order accuracy, quality standards, and operational performance throughout the shift.
  5. Ensure assigned departments are meeting client service requirements, operational goals, quality expectations, and established performance metrics.
  6. Prepare, maintain, and update all reports required for the assigned area of responsibility.
  7. Partner with Operations leadership to assess resource requirements, staffing needs, labor allocation, and department priorities.
  8. Collaborate with Client Services and other internal departments to resolve operational concerns, support client needs, and ensure service-level expectations are met.
  9. Ensure health, safety, GMP, quality, and company policies are followed in assigned areas.
  10. Support the enforcement of warehouse safety procedures, housekeeping standards, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.
  11. Assist with determining, monitoring, and maintaining quality control standards within assigned operational areas.
  12. Identify production, workflow, staffing, inventory, equipment, or quality concerns and escalate appropriately.
  13. Support the coordination of materials, supplies, packaging, equipment, and other resources needed for daily operations.
  14. Assist with organizing the repair, maintenance, or replacement of production equipment and operational tools as needed.
  15. Support training, onboarding, cross-training, and continued development of warehouse team members.
  16. Communicate performance expectations, operational updates, process changes, and department priorities to team members.
  17. Monitor employee performance, attendance, productivity, safety, and quality, and escalate concerns to Operations leadership or Human Resources when appropriate.
  18. Assist with documenting coaching, performance concerns, process issues, safety concerns, or other operational matters as directed.
  19. Participate in operational meetings, shift updates, process improvement discussions, and cross-functional planning.
  20. Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce errors, increase efficiency, and strengthen operational consistency.
  21. Help ensure assigned areas remain clean, organized, safe, and audit-ready.
  22. Support additional departments, client accounts, projects, or operational priorities as needed based on business volume and site needs
  23. Perform other duties as assigned 

  

Job Qualifications Mandatory

  1. Previous experience in warehouse, fulfillment, distribution, logistics, production, or operations  leadership.
  2. Ability to lead, coach, and support teams in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  3. Strong communication  skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with associates, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  4. Strong problem-solving      skills and ability to make sound decisions in a changing operational environment.
  5. Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and support multiple operational priorities at one time. 
  6. Ability to monitor productivity, quality, workflow, and department performance.
  7. Working knowledge of warehouse safety expectations and ability to reinforce safe work practices. 
  8. Ability to support  employee training, coaching, performance follow-up, and accountability.
  9. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Outlook, Teams, and related systems.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling employee, client, or  business information.
  11. Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, or schedule changes based on business needs.
  12. Ability to stand,  walk, bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements for up to 12 hours a day.
