Position Title: Manager of IT
Position Type: Full-Time, Hands-on Leadership
Location: Multi-site (Local travel required). This is not a remote position.
Setting: Mission-Driven / Lean IT Environment
Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000
Why This Role Matters
At our organization, technology is more than just hardware and software—it is the backbone that allows us to deliver vital services and improve lives in our community. As the Manager of IT, you won't just be managing systems; you will be directly impacting the effectiveness of a mission-driven team.
This is a unique, hands-on leadership role where you can truly make your mark: modernizing systems, strengthening cybersecurity, improving reliability, and acting as a trusted technology partner for our staff across multiple sites. If you are a skilled IT generalist who loves solving technical puzzles and thrives in a purpose-driven environment, we want to hear from you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Lead & Support: Oversee day-to-day IT operations, manage the ticketing system, and ensure a high standard of customer service and timely issue resolution.
- Be Hands-On: Provide direct, tier-2/3 technical support for hardware, software, network, and communication systems when needed.
- Multi-Site Oversight: Support our diverse ecosystem, ensuring seamless connectivity and technology performance for both on-site and remote users.
Systems, Infrastructure & Security
- Cloud Administration: Administer and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, MFA, and SharePoint environments.
- Infrastructure Uptime: Monitor and maintain network performance and uptime in close coordination with our external partners.
- Cybersecurity Defense: Drive core security practices, including managing user access controls, conducting audits, and facilitating staff security awareness training.
- Resilience: Assist in shaping and executing disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Vendor & MSP Management
- Partner Alignment: Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and our Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Accountability: Coordinate system maintenance, project rollouts, and issue resolution with external partners while monitoring vendor contracts and service performance.
Projects, Training & Asset Management
- Continuous Improvement: Lead IT projects (upgrades, implementations) and track key IT metrics to identify efficiency gains.
- Staff Enablement: Act as a patient, trusted resource, training staff on Microsoft 365, OneDrive, and SharePoint best practices.
- Lifecycle & Budgeting: Manage hardware inventory, software licensing, IT purchasing, and assist in contract reviews.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (equivalent hands-on experience will absolutely be considered).
- Experience: 5–8+ years of relevant, well-rounded IT experience, preferably in a hands-on generalist capacity.
- Technical Chops: Proven expertise administering Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and cloud-based environments.
- Vendor Management: Direct experience coordinating with or managing external vendors and/or MSPs.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional troubleshooting skills paired with a patient, customer-service mindset and top-notch communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working within a nonprofit, healthcare, or multi-site organization.
- Solid familiarity with modern IT security practices and compliance frameworks.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience (formal or informal).
Work Environment & Expectations
- The Environment: We operate a lean IT environment. This means you should be just as comfortable diving into a technical troubleshooting issue as you are talking strategy or reviewing vendor contracts. You should also be willing and able to climb ladders, crawl under desks, and work in small, and potentially dirty spaces.
- Mobility: Regular, local travel between our organizational sites is required to support our teams.
- Flexibility: Because we support a 24/7 operation, occasional evening or weekend support may be required to handle critical updates or urgent issues.
What we Offer our Employees:
- Health Benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision)
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Health Savings Account
- Health Reimbursement Account
- Life Insurance
- Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
- 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan
- Generous PTO Accrual
- Paid Holidays
Our organization is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
