Job Summary:

 This position will be responsible for scheduling patient procedures and for the accurate collection and input of patient demographic information, insurance information, and creation of a pre-registered accounts for scheduled outpatient Radiology procedures. Performs all assigned duties with emphasis on patient safety and satisfaction, accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism. 


Essential Job Duties:

  •  Schedules patient procedures and pre-registers the account following the Schegistration procedure.
  • Verifies patient insurance and demographic information while pre-registering over the phone. Makes changes and notifies providers’ offices as applicable.
  • Calls patients before scheduled exam to remind patient of appointment time and other applicable information related to the upcoming appointment.
  • For CT scheduling, checks to ensure CT labs are available for CT tech to review prior to the scheduled exam date.
  • Ensures that all scheduled patients have an order for the scheduled procedure.
  • Answers patients’ general questions regarding procedures, including preparation for various exams.
  • Assists front office staff in retrieving images for physician offices, clinics, and other Cary Medical Center departments and patients.
  • Answers calls promptly and cordially, including taking messages, retrieving messages and forwarding phone calls appropriately and promptly.
  • For Mammography appointments, checks dates on patient exams and ensures that last mammography exams are available for upcoming appointment.
  • Assists Health Information Management with patient CD images as appropriate.
  • May need to assist with directing patient changing and patient chaperoning.
  • Collaborates with the Patient Access Manager and Radiology Department Manager on scheduling functions.
  • Resolves registration and claim edits and completes registration reports to accommodate processing of charge entry and claim submissions.
  • Provides clerical duties such as typing, photocopying, and faxing.
  • Complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Education or License:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred
  • Previous Medical Office experience, preferred
  • Knowledge and skill in Microsoft Office documents (Word, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to answer phones and converse courteously and in a professional manner
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Maintains a high standard of responsibility, accountability and flexibility

Availability: 

  • Must be available to work days, nights, holidays and weekends depending on department staffing needs.
