Regulatory Affairs Specialist

This role supports Betco’s hazard communication and product stewardship compliance activities. The successful candidate will work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead small projects, evaluate product changes, maintain regulatory approvals, and manage regulatory databases.



Requirements


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: other duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Maintain and update the UL WERCS database to support product compliance requirements.
  • Author, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage Safety Data Sheet program and respond to related customer communications.
  • Maintain the CHEMTREC database and ensure product information remains accurate and current.
  • Classify products for hazardous materials transportation requirements, including DOT, IMDG, IATA, and lithium-ion battery regulations.
  • Assist the shipping team with hazardous materials compliance initiatives and related documentation.
  • Support the raw material compliance program through data review, documentation, and ongoing maintenance activities.
  • Review product literature and labels for regulatory compliance and consistency with company requirements.
  • Complete basic reporting tasks and other regulatory support activities as assigned.
  • Respond to customer compliance questionnaires and company-specific documentation requests on behalf of Betco.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement regulatory changes and support compliance initiatives.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree, preferably in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Biology, Environmental Science). 
  • 0-3 years demonstrated work experience (academic, internship, co-op, professional).

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must have great organizational skills.
  • Must have thorough communication skills (verbal, written, etc.).
  • Must be adept at time management. 
  • Must be self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Familiar working with software programs such as Microsoft excel, Microsoft teams, Microsoft word (or similar).
