The OB Nurse’s Assistant is a Medical Assistant responsible for supporting the OB Nurse and the operational functions of the OB Office. This role involves assisting with day-to-day tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the office and the delivery of exceptional care to the OB patients. The Assistant to the OB Nurse contributes to maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment for both patients and staff. 

 

Job Description: Assistant to the OB Nurse


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides support to the OB Nurse in managing the operational needs of the OB Office.
  • Assist with patient education by preparing materials and answering general questions under the guidance of the OB Nurse.
  • Act as a point of support for patients, addressing basic inquiries and directing them to the OB Nurse of physician for further assistance.
  • Schedule inductions and C-sections
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the OB Nurse and physicians.


 Qualifications / Valued Skills 

  • Prior experience in obstetrics and gynecology is required.
  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the OB Nurse, physicians, and other staff members.
  • Familiarity with EHR systems, particularly EPIC, is an advantage.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Professional demeanor and a focus on providing exceptional patient care.
  • Work Environment
  • Clinical office setting with regular interaction with patients and healthcare staff.
  • A moderate-paced environment that requires efficiency and organization.
  • Collaboration with the OB Nurse and other team members to meet patient needs.

 Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the office for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform administrative and clinical tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
