Description

  

Primary Objective 

The ITS Technician is responsible for providing technical field service, installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer support for MoboTrex Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal, and traffic management products throughout the assigned territory. This position works closely with customers, contractors, municipalities, state and local transportation agencies, and internal Sales, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure successful implementation and long-term performance of MoboTrex solutions.


The ITS Technician serves as a trusted technical resource, delivering exceptional customer service while supporting product demonstrations, system integration, field commissioning, preventive maintenance, and technical training. This position requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic field environment.

  


Requirements

 

Key Responsibilities


 Technical Field Service

  • Install, commission, configure, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic      signal equipment.
  • Perform cabinet turn-ons, controller programming, communications setup, and system integration.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and field device issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, annual cabinet inspections, CMU/MMU testing, and system performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate and execute on-site work for complex ITS deployments and integration projects.
  • Ensure all field work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and customer specifications.

Customer Support

  • Provide technical support to customers, contractors, municipalities, and transportation agencies via phone, email, remote      access, and onsite service.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource during equipment installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Deliver customer training on MoboTrex products, traffic signal controllers, ATMS software, and related ITS technologies.
  • Document service activities, technical findings, and customer interactions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive, solution-oriented service.

Sales & Project Support

  • Support the Sales team with product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer meetings.
  • Assist with application engineering, estimating, and project planning as needed.
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings and project kickoff activities.
  • Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and project closeout activities.
  • Identify opportunities for additional products and services and communicate qualified leads to the Sales team.

Technical Expertise

  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of MoboTrex products, ITS technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Stay current on traffic signal controllers, detection systems, CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), communications networks, and traffic management software.
  • Assist Engineering and Manufacturing with product testing, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development opportunities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate service reports, inspection records, expense reports, and project documentation.
  • Effectively manage work schedules, travel, and customer appointments.
  • Maintain company-issued vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electrical Technology, Computer Technology, Intelligent Transportation Systems, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent military, technical, or industry experience may be considered.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience installing, maintaining, or servicing traffic signal systems, ITS equipment, electrical systems, or related technologies preferred.
  • Experience working with municipalities, contractors, Departments of Transportation (DOT), or transportation agencies is highly      desirable.
  • IMSA Level II Traffic Signal Technician certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year of employment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and traffic signal technologies.
  • Experience with traffic signal controllers, cabinets, detection systems, communications equipment, and related field      devices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, networking, software, and hardware issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical drawings, and construction plans.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and mobile technology.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in active roadway environments.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory with occasional overnight travel as business needs require.
  • Occasional evening, weekend, or emergency response work may be required.
