Description

OVERVIEW

We are a growing dermatology organization committed to delivering exceptional, patient-centered skin cancer care. We are seeking a collaborative and compassionate Oncologist to join our dermatology team and support patients with complex skin cancers and oncology-related dermatologic conditions.


The Oncologist will work closely with dermatologists, Mohs surgeons, pathologists, and multidisciplinary care teams to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and coordinate care for patients with melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, and other cutaneous malignancies. This physician will play a key role in treatment planning, surveillance, systemic therapy management, patient education, and continuity of care throughout the patient’s cancer journey.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with skin cancers and oncology-related dermatologic conditions.
  • Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations.
  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, pathology reports, and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with cutaneous malignancies.
  • Prescribe and manage systemic therapies, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other oncology treatments as appropriate.
  • Monitor treatment response and manage therapy-related side effects and complications.
  • Conduct follow-up visits and surveillance for patients with melanoma and other high-risk skin cancers.
  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, prevention, and supportive care.
  • Coordinate care with dermatologists, Mohs surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and other specialists as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient care programs.
  • Support the growth and development of dermatologic oncology services within the practice.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Hematology/Oncology or Medical Oncology fellowship program.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Medical Oncology.
  • Active Oregon medical license (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
  • DEA registration and unrestricted prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong clinical assessment and oncology patient management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong documentation and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.


Preferred

  • Experience treating melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma, and other cutaneous malignancies.
  • Experience prescribing and managing immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other cancer treatments.
  • Familiarity with dermatologic oncology and multidisciplinary skin cancer management.
  • Experience interpreting pathology reports and coordinating cancer treatment plans.
  • Experience in a fast-paced specialty clinic environment.
  • Interest in skin cancer prevention, surveillance, and patient education.
  • Interest in contributing to the growth and development of dermatologic oncology services.
