Description

Purpose/Objective: To carry out day-to-day maintenance and repair of light manufacturing equipment used in the production of specialist headgear. This is a practical, shop-floor-based role within a small manufacturing team, supporting production by keeping equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain, repair and carry out general upkeep of production machinery and equipment.
  • Complete routine planned maintenance and safety checks in line with the site’s Planned Maintenance Scheme (PMS).
  • Respond to minor breakdowns and carry out basic fault-finding to minimise production disruption.
  • Support the maintenance of factory services, including lighting and small power supplies.
  • Assist with general mechanical maintenance.
  • Carry out occasional work at height in accordance with site procedures.
  • Travel occasionally to other company manufacturing sites, as required. 
Requirements

 Skills and Abilities: 

  • Hands-on maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, such as fault-finding on machinery, sensors, switches and motors.
  • General understanding of mechanical systems used in production machinery.
  • Ability to read and follow basic engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Basic computer skills for logging maintenance tasks.
  • A practical and sensible approach to Health & Safety.

 Qualifications/Experience: 

  •   Previous maintenance experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.
  • Electrical qualification is advantageous but not essential.
  • Mechanical or multi-skilled background welcomed.
  • Experience with small presses, moulding, or assembly equipment would be beneficial.
