Field Service Technician (Heavy Construction Equipment)

SEI is looking for a skilled Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, maintain, and commission heavy construction equipment at customer job sites near Williamsport for our Wilkes-Barre facility. As a Field Service Technician, you'll work with industry-leading equipment, utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, and enjoy the independence of working directly with customers while being supported by an experienced service team.
What You'll Do:
As a Field Service Technician, you'll be the trusted expert our customers rely on to keep their equipment operating safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction equipment in the field and at SEI facilities.
- Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and electronic controls.
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and warranty repairs.
- Test equipment after repairs to ensure peak performance and customer satisfaction.
- Respond to emergency service calls to minimize customer downtime.
- Read and interpret service manuals, wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and technical bulletins.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment.
- Operate and maintain a company service truck, tools, and parts inventory.
- Accurately complete work orders, service reports, inspection forms, and warranty documentation.
- Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status professionally with customers.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.

Required:
- Minimum 5 years of experience repairing heavy construction equipment, cranes, paving equipment, road maintenance equipment, agricultural equipment, or other diesel-powered machinery.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Must provide and maintain a personal set of professional mechanic's hand tools required to perform the essential functions of the position. Specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, and company-specific tooling are provided by Stephenson Equipment.
Preferred:
- Technical degree or certification in Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field.
- Experience servicing construction, paving, crane, municipal, or road maintenance equipment.
- CDL (preferred but not required).
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Lift up to 75 pounds frequently.
- Stand, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in confined spaces.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travel regularly throughout the assigned territory.
- Work around noise, vibration, fuels, lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and industrial environments.
- Work overtime and occasional weekends as customer needs require.
