Position Summary

The HR Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department at Westlake Village Inn, providing hands-on support across recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration. This role requires a seasoned HR professional who can operate with minimal oversight, communicate fluently with a diverse, bilingual workforce, and maintain accurate records within our HRIS/payroll system.


Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate full-cycle recruiting: posting openings, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting hiring managers through offer and onboarding.

• Conduct new hire onboarding, orientation, and I-9/E-Verify processing in compliance with federal and state requirements.

• Serve as a point of contact for employee questions regarding pay, benefits, policies, and general HR inquiries — in both English and Spanish.

• Maintain employee records and process HR transactions (status changes, new hires, terminations, leaves) accurately within Paylocity.

• Support benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and employee communication.

• Assist with employee relations matters, documentation, and investigations under the direction of the HR Director.

• Help ensure compliance with wage and hour law, labor posting requirements, and hotel industry employment regulations.

• Support payroll processing and troubleshoot basic payroll/timekeeping issues in Paylocity.

• Assist in coordinating employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and training logistics.

• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company information at all times.


Physical Requirements

Ability to work in a standard office environment with occasional walking throughout the property; ability to sit or stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.


Compensation & Schedule

$75,000-$80,000, on-site at Westlake Village Inn. Schedule: 8:30 am -5:00pm - some weekend availability required.

Requirements

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources support or generalist role.• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) — required.• Hands-on working knowledge of Paylocity (HRIS/payroll platform) — required.• Strong working knowledge of employment law, I-9 compliance, and HR best practices.• Prior experience in hospitality, hotel, or a similarly fast-paced, high-volume employee environment strongly preferred.• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or HR certification (PHR/SHRM-CP) a plus.
