Phlebotomist (Temporary Full-Time)
Lake Butler Hospital, a vital healthcare provider in North Florida, is dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to our community. As a critical access hospital offering 24-hour emergency services, inpatient hospitalization, rehabilitation, outpatient laboratory, and radiology services, we are committed to fostering a supportive environment for both our patients and staff. We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team on a temporary basis for approximately 10-16 weeks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and processing of specimens in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and infection control standards.
- Assist with clerical tasks including data entry, specimen tracking, and documentation using hospital computer systems.
- Operate and troubleshoot office equipment such as fax machines, scanners, and telephones.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and ensuring a positive experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate laboratory results.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in phlebotomy, with proficiency in venipuncture techniques.
- Strong clerical skills, including familiarity with computers, data entry, and office equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Certification in phlebotomy from an accredited program is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare-related education is a plus.
