Description

The Diversion Manager is responsible for managing Turquoise House and Consumer Link Peer Service operations. Work with and offer support to the Program Coordinator, assisting in supervisory and administrative responsibilities. The Diversion Manager promotes life fulfillment and recovery concepts, including choice, self-direction, community integration, meaningful/fulfilling life goals, mutuality and crisis as an opportunity for positive change. The Diversion Manager uses personal experience and peer specialist training to supervise, manage and assist others in their recovery from psychiatric illness. 

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General oversight of respite house, including maintenance of building and grounds. 
  • Manage provisions of a safe, clean and secure environment for guests and staff. 
  • Assist with planning and purchasing household goods, groceries and personal items for guests. 
  • Provides direct peer support services-individual, group and warm line-as needed, in accordance with values and engagement policies. 
  • Assists with record keeping and documentation of pertinent information. 
  • Assists with emergency coverage, as needed.
  • Responsible for supervising program staff. 
  • Promote and support the Team Agreement as written by the peer respite team to promote transparency and honesty. 
  • Support Assistant Director and/or Director of program in maintaining schedules, training, performance reviews and community based meetings, as needed. 
  • Oversee data collection and program reports, as per the Program Director. 
  • Promote and support the Team Agreement, as written by peer team to promote transparency. 
  • Promote the concepts of recipient autonomy and choice in all public appearances and environments. 
  • Share personal recovery to encourage hope, wellness, personal growth and recovery. 

 Education & Experience  

  • Lived in experience and willingness to utilize personal experiences to assist others in their recovery with at least two years in recovery from acute care environment preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED, Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • One year of full time experience in delivery of direct services to mental health consumer-survivors preferred. 
  • Six months experience in supervision of full or part time staff preferred. 
  • One year of either volunteer, part time or full time employment experience in self-help, peer directed services or support groups. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Knowledge of consumer/survivor/ex-patient movement, wellness/recovery based services and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) preferred. 
  • Strong comfort level in supporting individuals in crisis or experiencing potential relapse preferred.  

  Other Qualifications  

  • Must be honest, respectful for diversity and hold high personal standards. 
  • Basic knowledge of community support service/resources/ mental health service delivery system preferred. 
  • Must have strength in collaborating with other services and professionals.
  • Strong organization, time management, planning and have self-direction. 
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to keep accurate records.
  • Strong problem solving skills 
  • Strong comfort level in supporting individuals in crisis or experiencing relapse. 
  • Ability to be creative and flexible. 
  • Valid NYS Driver’s license preferred.
