The Cabinet Designer/Drafter specializes in creating high-quality custom cabinet designs for residential projects, overseeing the entire process from planning to execution. This role involves developing designs that meet both time and budget requirements, while also ensuring that the creative concepts are manufacturable. Acting as a liaison between sales and production, the Designer/Drafter ensures that custom, non-cataloged products are both available and manufacturable. Additionally, the Designer/Drafter offers suggestions for design improvements, considering factors such as practicality, cost, and component technology.

The job will consist of daily communication requirements with a wide variety of people, including but not limited to; Tharp personnel including company managers, A/R and A/P, Manufacturing personnel, Service staff, Delivery staff, Installation Staff, Contractors/Builder executives, Contractor/Builder Site personnel and will require professionalism and business acumen.
·To develop and implement value-added components brought forth by Sales and Design.
· Determine availability, feasibility, and manufacturability for Custom Engineering Requests within Tharp.
· Coordinate assignments throughout Design and Drafting, as appropriate.
· Review sales drawings and designs for accuracy and compliance to Tharp design standards and product catalog.
· Produce manufacturing drawings and production reports according to drafting work instructions.
· Create detailed manufacturing drawings or 3D exploded views for production personnel and installation personnel for clarity and ease of assembly.
· Support Sales, Operations, Installation, and Service to ensure optimal customer experience.
· · Develop skills and proficiency in assigned tasks.
· Process work in a timely, quality-focused manner.
· Display a basic understanding of the information contained in the Tharp cut sheets and prints
· Display a baseline understanding of the Tharp Quality requirements.
· Designing cabinetry for all rooms of the home using Cabinet Vision software.
· Learn the ins and outs of Tharp and the cabinetry business by assisting customers at the front desk and on the phone.
· Have knowledge of building codes, appliances, and mechanical systems. Cabinet designers write specifications and draw plans that are easily interpreted by plumbers, electricians, and installers.
· Field measure modifications.
· ·Assisting the sales teams by gaining knowledge of our Cabinet products.
· ·Concept and Final design and drawing development.
· ·Price Estimate development.
Qualifications:
· Proficient computer skills including MSOffice, Outlook, Cabinet Vision.
· Ability to learn and use proprietary Custom Software solutions.
· Excellent customer communication skills.
· Display the ability to manage several activities at once and make decisions as circumstances change.
· Must work well in a team environment and have the ability to work with others.
· Ability to successfully maintain relationships intellectually as well as technologically.
· Excellent organizational, planning, and scheduling skills.
· Ability to read and interpret Construction documents including Plans, specifications, and contracts.
· Ability to develop conceptual drawings and designs.
· Excellent problem-solving skills.
· Qualified candidates must have previous custom cabinet design experience and be able to thrive in a team environment.

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma required, bachelor’s or associate degree strongly preferred, or applicable work experience.
Experience:
- 2-5 years experience in Cabinetry Design is preferred.
- Proven ability to interpret design requirements and planning the sequence of drawings, reviewing designs for the most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and manpower.
- CKD Certification a plus.
- Proven experience with CAD or drafting software required, such as Cabinet Vision, AutoCad, SolidWorks, Microvellum, 20/20.
- Computer programing experience preferred.
