The Branch Manager oversees all operational, technical, and business functions of the calibration laboratory. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, financial performance, and a positive customer and employee experience. The Branch Manager leads a team of technicians and support staff while maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Oversee day-to-day lab operations, including scheduling, workflow management, and resource allocation.
· Ensure full utilization of technician capabilities and manage overtime to meet customer expectations.
· Monitor production, turnaround times, and overall team performance; provide weekly and monthly operational reports.
· Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment, including adherence to health, safety, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
· Quarterly in-person customer site visits to discuss current and future services and opportunities.
· Work closely with the sales teams to assist in evaluating new and existing business opportunities.
· Ensure accuracy and reliability of calibration services through strong quality control practices.
· Support and participate in internal and external audits; address nonconformities and implement corrective actions.
· Oversee calibration of lab standards and assist technical and QA teams with metrology-related issues.
· Review warranties, evaluate technical concerns, and resolve escalated calibration challenges.
· Lead, mentor, and develop technicians and support staff; provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
· Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.
· Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work culture.
· Build and maintain strong customer relationships; understand requirements, resolve concerns, and ensure exceptional service.
· Identify growth opportunities and collaborate with sales teams to expand the customer base.
· Manage branch P&L, including budgeting, expense control, and financial analysis to ensure profitability.
· Track and report key performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
· Perform other duties as assigned to support branch success.
· High school diploma or GED required
· Military PMEL/TMDE/GPETE training or an Associate’s Degree in Electronics or related technical field preferred.
· Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a technical or operations-focused environment, including at least 2-5 years of leadership experience.
· Hands-on experience calibrating test and measurement equipment preferred.
· Ability to educate on calibration services
· Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
· ASQ CCT certification or equivalent training is a plus.
· Exposure to budgeting, quoting, or cost control preferred
· P&L or operational management experience preferred
