POSITION TITLE: Production Sign Department Lead                               FLSA Status: Non- Exempt


POSITION SUMMARY: The Channel Letter Department Lead is responsible for leading all aspects of the Channel Letter Department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacture of illuminated signage. This role is accountable for department performance, employee development, quality, productivity, scheduling, continuous improvement, and accurate production reporting within M1. The Lead partners with other manufacturing departments to consistently deliver products that exceed customer expectations.


Leadership and People Development

  1. Lead, coach, mentor, and develop department employees.
  2. Conduct interviewing, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and corrective actions.
  3. Create cross-training plans and succession planning.
  4. Promote accountability, teamwork, and a positive culture.

Production and Operations

  1. Coordinate daily production schedules and labor priorities.
  2. Meet or exceed quoted labor estimates.
  3. Ensure real-time M1 labor reporting and job completion accuracy.
  4. Communicate production risks and recovery plans.

Quality

  1. Maintain 100% compliance with Cima quality standards.
  2. Reduce rework through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  3. Perform in-process and final quality inspections.

Safety

  1. Maintain a safe department compliant with OSHA and company policies.
  2. Lead safety meetings and corrective actions.
  3. Ensure PPE and equipment guarding compliance.

Inventory and Equipment

  1. Maintain adequate material inventory with zero preventable stock-outs.
  2. Coordinate preventative maintenance and equipment repairs.

Continuous Improvement

  1. Improve workflow using Lean manufacturing principles.
  2. Reduce waste and improve labor efficiency.
  3. Standardize work instructions and best practices.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years manufacturing leadership preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of channel letter fabrication and electrical assembly.
  • Experience with M1 ERP or similar manufacturing software.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work orders.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; work with their hands handle, or feel, whether directly manipulating components or using controls on an assembly machine. Employee must be able to talk or hear over shop noise. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 to 75 pounds and move it for at least 50 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 


MECHANICAL / TECHNICAL SKILLS: 

Employee must be able to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, electric tools and machine. Math: Basic math is needed
