We're looking for a proactive, hands-on Safety & Risk Coordinator to lead our workplace safety initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and help maintain a safe, efficient manufacturing environment. This role reports to our COO and is ideal for someone who enjoys collaborating across departments, solving problems, improving processes, and making a meaningful impact on employee wellbeing.
What You'll Do
As the Safety & Risk Coordinator, you'll oversee PMD's environmental health and safety programs while supporting facility safety initiatives and machinery safety compliance. You'll work closely with leadership, Human Resources, engineering, manufacturing, and facilities teams to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Management
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve company safety policies, procedures, and programs.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, MSDS/SDS, and other applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Conduct facility safety audits, inspections, ergonomic assessments, and risk assessments.
- Identify workplace hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Manage employee safety incentive programs.
- Partner with facilities personnel to maintain a safe work environment.
- Coordinate fire protection inspections and facility safety initiatives.
Safety Training & Employee Development
- Develop, deliver, and track employee safety training programs.
- Lead new hire safety orientation and ongoing safety education.
- Conduct weekly toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Maintain training records and required certifications.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
Incident Investigation & Workers' Compensation
- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Complete root cause analyses, corrective action plans, and required reporting.
- Manage workers' compensation claims from initial report through resolution.
- Coordinate return-to-work and light-duty programs.
- Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, medical providers, and injured employees.
- Monitor incident trends and recommend preventive actions.
Machine & Automation Safety
- Support machine risk assessments and machinery safety validation.
- Evaluate safeguarding systems, including guarding, light curtains, safety devices, and risk reduction measures.
- Verify safety labeling complies with ANSI, ISO, and OSHA standards.
- Support machine safety during equipment build, installation, and customer acceptance.
- Review safety KPIs with leadership and recommend improvements.
Facilities & Operational Support
- Maintain inventory of PPE and safety supplies.
- Coordinate contractor and vendor safety activities.
- Support facility security and visitor safety requirements.
- Collaborate with Human Resources on wellness and employee health initiatives.
- Promote safe work practices throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience administering workplace safety programs and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements and manufacturing safety practices.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Safety, Facilities Management, Maintenance Technology, or a related field.
- Experience administering workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, OHST, CIH, or similar.
- Machinery safety certifications such as CMSE, TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, or equivalent.
- Experience performing machine risk assessments in an industrial automation environment.
