Job Summary: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for the overall financial management, planning, and fiscal health of Adapt for Life (AFL). The CFO provides financial leadership that supports the organization's mission of delivering high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services while ensuring long-term financial sustainability and growth. 


The CFO oversees all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, revenue cycle optimization, financial compliance, and business analytics. This role partners closely with clinical and operational leadership to maximize financial performance while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and payer requirements.



Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

Required:

  1. 10+ years of progressive financial leadership 
  2. Minimum 5 years in senior finance management 
  3. Healthcare finance experience 
  4. Multi-location organization experience 
  5. Budget management exceeding $20 million 


Preferred:

  1. ABA therapy experience 
  2. Medicaid reimbursement knowledge 
  3. Multi-state healthcare organization 
  4. Private equity or high-growth healthcare experience

Financial Leadership

  1. Develop and execute AFL's financial strategy in alignment with organizational goals. 
  2. Advise the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on financial planning and strategic initiatives. 
  3. Present financial performance, forecasts, and recommendations to ownership and executive leadership. 
  4. Lead long-range financial planning and capital allocation. 
  5. Evaluate financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies. 


Financial Planning & Analysis

  1. Develop annual operating budgets and financial forecasts. 
  2. Monitor monthly financial performance against budget. 
  3. Analyze key financial trends and operational metrics. 
  4. Develop dashboards and KPIs for executive leadership. 
  5. Provide profitability analysis by clinic, service line, payer, and region. 
  6. Recommend operational improvements to improve margins. 


Accounting & Financial Reporting

Oversee:

  1. General Ledger 
  2. Accounts Payable 
  3. Accounts Receivable 
  4. Payroll Accounting 
  5. Fixed Assets 
  6. Month-End Close 
  7. Year-End Close 

Ensure:

  1. Accurate financial statements 
  2. Timely monthly reporting 
  3. GAAP compliance 
  4. Internal financial controls 


Revenue Cycle Management

Partner with the Vice President of Corporate Support to oversee:

  1. Billing 
  2. Collections 
  3. Insurance reimbursement 
  4. Authorizations 
  5. Credentialing financial impact 
  6. Revenue integrity 

Monitor:

  1. Days in Accounts Receivable 
  2. Collection percentages 
  3. Denial rates 
  4. Write-offs 
  5. Cash collections 
  6. Revenue leakage 


Cash Management

  1. Monitor daily cash flow. 
  2. Forecast cash needs. 
  3. Manage banking relationships. 
  4. Oversee investments. 
  5. Maintain appropriate reserves. 
  6. Optimize working capital. 


Strategic Growth

Evaluate financial impact of:

  1. New clinic locations 
  2. Acquisitions 
  3. Service expansion 
  4. New payer contracts 
  5. Technology investments 
  6. Staffing models 

Provide financial due diligence for expansion opportunities.


Compliance

Ensure compliance with:

  1. Federal and state regulations 
  2. IRS requirements 
  3. Medicaid regulations 
  4. Commercial payer requirements 
  5. Financial audits 
  6. Tax filings 
  7. Banking requirements 
  8.  Coordinate annual audits and tax preparation.


Operational Partnership

Collaborate with:

  1. CEO

  5. VP Quality & Compliance

Provide financial guidance regarding:

Business Analytics

Develop executive reporting related to:

  1. EBITDA 
  2. Gross Margin 
  3. Net Margin 
  4. Revenue per Client 
  5. Revenue per BCBA 
  6. Revenue per RBT 
  7. Utilization 
  8. Billable Percentage 
  9. Payroll Percentage 
  10. Labor Cost 
  11. Client Census 
  12. Payer Mix 
  13. Authorization Utilization 


Risk Management

  1. Establish internal financial controls. 
  2. Identify operational financial risks. 
  3. Monitor fraud prevention measures. 
  4. Oversee insurance renewals from a financial perspective. 
  5. Review contracts for financial implications. 


Leadership

  1. Lead and develop the Finance Department. 
  2. Foster accountability and continuous improvement. 
  3. Mentor finance staff. 
  4. Promote collaboration across departments
