Anti-Violence Community Outreach Coordinator

Reports to:   IPS Assistant Manager 

Status:   Full Time 12:00pm – 8:00pm 

The Anti-Violence Community Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for identifying and referring adolescents and youths to NSCA’s prevention program. This position will work with our population in small group settings to ensure that the individuals in our care are emotionally strong, physically safe and socially healthy. The Intensive Prevention Services (IPS) is a community-based prevention program offered to youth ages 10 to 19. The Anti-Violence Community Outreach Coordinator identifies youths who are having disciplinary issues at school, conflicts at home or in the community, and refers them to NSCA. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Engage audience with excellent customer services and influential skills. 
  • Reach out to school staff, community organizations, law enforcement personnel to identify youth and refer them to NSCA prevention services. 
  • Visit a minimum of ten (10)  schools per week, and other community organizations to promote prevention program  and identify  youths. 
  • Refer fifteen (15) or more youth per month to NSCA’s  prevention program. 
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct outreach events to promote services. 
  • Engage & participate in outreach events during regular working hours and weekends as needed. 
  • Conduct NSCA prevention services presentations in meetings and events. 
  • Collect information about the family through interview, case history, and complete referral forms. 
  • Guide families on how to best support their children through the juvenile system process.   
  • Connect youth and parents to NSCA economic mobility services, and community resources. 
  • Participate in professional development training, community meetings and events as required.

Requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:  

  • AA degree in marketing or related field, OR, H.S Diploma, with at least 3 years of marketing, selling, or promoting experience.  
  • Experience working  in youth programs. 
  • Ability to secure the required clearances such as National Sex Offender, FBI, Child Abuse and Background checks. 
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and achieve monthly projected goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and in collaborative environment  
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to effectively handle documentation and paperwork  
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (Preferred) 
  • Strong written and verbal  communication skills. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Powerpoint 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact with individuals of different racial, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.  
  • Valid driver’s license and car or strong knowledge of local Septa routes  
  • Familiarity with the Norris Square Community and its service providers  

Physical Demands:  

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds  
  • Ability to climb steps 
Salary Description
$22 an hour
