Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance to ensure the safety, appearance, and functionality of St. Mary's Home's buildings, grounds, and parking areas. This role independently identifies routine and scheduled maintenance needs, completes assigned work orders, and responds to maintenance requests in a timely manner.


The Maintenance Technician also assists with special and capital improvement projects that enhance the facility's operations, appearance, and structural integrity. 


  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • The Maintenance Technician will perform tasks necessary for the overall operation of the building, maintenance equipment      and grounds. 
  • Will work on tasks reflected on the Home’s preventative maintenance schedule (PMS). 
  • Responsible for fire & safety compliance and inspections
  • Reports any defective equipment or tools to the Facility manager and fixes the item or recommends a source or supplier if      replacement is necessary, insuring that the tools and other equipment used by the Maintenance Department are free of defects, clean and in working order.
  • Incumbent is authorized to use contract resources for more complicated maintenance and/or repair projects, subject to prior      approval by the Facility Manager.
  • Provides a variety of support to The Homes  departments regarding special functions that require setting up and taking down small tents, indoor and outdoor tables, chairs, holiday decorations, etc.
  • Incumbent will be on a rotation schedule for on-call after-hours emergency situations requiring immediate attention. These events are always reviewed with the Facility Maintenance Manager.
  • Will conduct maintenance of outdoor pool and specialized outdoor playground equipment (in season), routine maintenance      of company vehicles, and mail runs and part runs for the Home. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  •  Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent required; some trade school or college preferred
  • Skills:  Ability to operate and instruct others on the operation of hand tools, hand-held electronic tools, and other equipment used to  maintain the grounds and building.  Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and follow detailed and technical instructions, manuals, etc. 
  • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds without assistance, and must be able to sit, stand and walk for a substantial part of each working shift. 
  • Training and Experience:  At least (5) years in a Facility Maintenance Setting.  Knowledge of local vendors and contractors and reasonable cost structures based on the project scope.
  • Must produce an acceptable driving record and maintain a current driver’s license and clear DMV record.
