Semi-Truck Driver
Description

BACKGROUND:

Northwest Hardwoods is the premier Hardwood Lumber producer in the industry, serving furniture, cabinet, molding, and millwork segments worldwide.  We operate manufacturing facilities throughout the United States. We are searching for a Semi-Truck Driver, paid by the load, for local and overnight routes.

   



Paid by the load position

Pick up containers at the port

Take containers to the mill

Have containers loaded

Return containers to the port

Load chips and sawdust from the bins into trailers

Take chips and sawdust in the trailer to the paper mill

Inspect the vehicle for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance 

Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures

Maneuver the truck into the loading and unloading positions

Report defects, accidents, or violations

Keep the vehicle clean and safe at all times

Other duties as assigned by the Manager

 


JOB SUMMARY:

PAID BY THE LOAD!

Based out of Daily, WV

Take containers to the mill

Have containers loaded

Return containers to the port (Optional)

Load chips and sawdust from the bins into trailers

Take chips and sawdust in the trailer to the paper mill

Inspect the vehicle for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance

Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures

Maneuver the truck into the loading and unloading positions

Report defects, accidents, or violations

Keep the vehicle clean and safe at all times

Other duties as assigned by the Manager

 

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Valid CDL

Clean driving record

Be safety conscious, have a positive attitude

Have and maintain an excellent attendance record

Pre-employment physical and pass a DOT drug screen

Wear personal protective equipment at the loading and unloading points

Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations

Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent

CDL – Class A

Certificate from an accredited CDL school

21 years or older

At least six months of OTR experience

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit for long periods of time

Ability to drive for extended periods of time (approximately 475 miles round-trip per day)

Ability to climb up to the bin and onto the truck trailer
