The Commercial Lines Senior Account Manager ~ New Business Placement plays a strategic role within our agency, responsible for leading the placement and marketing of new business across all lines for an assigned Account Executive(s). This individual serves as a liaison between Account Executives, account teams, and insurance carriers, ensuring each submission is thoughtfully matched with the best market opportunities. The role is ideal for a seasoned placement expert who thrives on relationship-building, carrier negotiation, and strategic problem-solving.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead all aspects of the marketing and placement process for new commercial business in assigned agency and assigned Account Executive. The remaining new business in the agency will be handled by the existing account manager and AE team.
- Evaluate risk, recommend markets, and collaborate with producers to develop and customize a program for clients.
- Ensure competitive, compliant, and timely submissions to carriers.
- Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with underwriters and marketing reps
- Stay current on carrier appetite, guidelines, and market trends.
- Establish and maintain a positive team-oriented relationship with colleagues.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures for workflow and documentation.
- Maintaining a professional connection between clients, the agency and company underwriter.
- Review and process mail using personnel and procedures in place for support.
- Respond to daily telephone calls and requests for: ID cards, Binder, BOR, cancellations and reinstatements.
- Request policy amendments to new business
- Ensure all new business documentation is accurately documented in EPIC for the assigned account manager to take over the account once placed.
- Create a seamless transition for the client when new business is placed and a new account manager is taking over the servicing of the account.
- New business proposals This includes preparation of applications, rating and forwarding to designated companies, for the correct placement and coverage for each risk. Information is then communicated to the insured or prospective client.
- Communicate quotes to customers regarding policies, costs, consequences, and obligations.
- Keep a record of client activity with detailed documentation in EPIC, this will require follow-up with the client and/or the carrier.
- Process invoices to client.
- Work with the Accounting Department on agency billed accounts per written standards.
- Provide support to the Commercial Lines Team Lead with duties as needed.
- Participate in Educational Seminars or workshops to emphasize improvement in customer service skills and sales.
- Meet or exceed expectations of job responsibilities.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- State P&C license with 10 plus years of experience required.
- High School diploma/equivalent required.
- A minimum of one Designation is required.
- Ability to support and drive changes within the department.
- Ability and experience to manage large and complex books of business.
- Ability to multitask.
- Self-motivated.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Prior experience with EPIC required.
- Prior sales experience preferred.
