Delivery Driver
Description

 

We are seeking a Box Truck Driver to deliver exceptional service to our production and customers. You must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and be familiar with the Twin Cities metro area. A commercial driver’s license is not required for this position. Your job duties will include loading delivery items, operating a box truck, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, and securing loads with appropriate straps. This position also includes organizing and maintaining CDI Elk River’s stock inventory program. When there are no current duties for loading trucks or making deliveries, you will assist in production until work becomes available. Lift-gate and forklift experience is essential to this role. Our customers, and plant leadership expect their goods to arrive within a specific time frame, so you must be able to work independently and manage your time well. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Drive A 26’ box truck with lift gate on a pre-determined route and schedule
  2. Deliver or pick up items as instructed 
  3. Load and unload vehicle as necessary 
  4. Document deliveries, including obtaining signatures or logging shipment details. 
  5. Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols.
  6. Support production with maintaining a clean and organized shop, off-site storage areas of on hand materials
  7. Remove returned curbs from production floor on a regular basis 
  8. Follow all standard procedures set by CDI
  9. Obey all MNDOT laws and regulations 
  10. Work in production as needed when there are no trucks to load or make deliveries.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  1. Safety Compliance to all DOT regulations with zero safety violations or at-fault accidents.
  2. Adheres to all CDI safety measures
  3. 100% completion of pre-trip and post-trip inspections with prompt reporting of any issues.
  4. Prompt deliveries of stock inventory, local deliveries, and materials

DAILY TASKS

  1. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in proper working condition.
  2. Coordinate with the Crating Lead for daily local route updates and delivery instructions.
  3. Verify items being delivered against delivery BOL’s to ensure accuracy.
  4. Interact professionally with clients during deliveries and address any immediate concerns.
  5. Secure cargo to prevent shifting during transport.
  6. Return undelivered or returned goods to the plant
  7. Maintain clear communication with logistics and management throughout the day.
Requirements

 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / LICENSURE

  1. Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers.
  2. Must be 21 years old (Insurance purposes)
  3. Proficient in using and understanding of the CDI truckload scheduler
  4. CDI certified to operate a forklift
  5. Proven track record with managing time effectively
  6. Pass DOT Physical Exam (Physical, Urinalysis, Hearing, Range of Motion, Colorblindness, Medical History, Blood Pressure)
  7. Demonstrated application of CDI, Inc. core values FAST, FUN, & EASY
  8. Maintains accurate, and diligent records of expenses through paylocity
  9. Ensures stock inventory is current and 100% accurate.
  10. Competent with technology: Use of mobile devices, computers, scanners, printers

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Ability to continuously stand or walk 

2. Ability to frequently bend, twist, grip, squat and lift 

3. Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
