Job Summary:
Performs proper maintenance/repair work to promote the efficient and safe operation of production equipment and work areas.
SHIFT: 6:00pm - 6:00am, rotating
Job Description:
- Performs scheduled and emergency maintenance and repair work to facilities and equipment.
- Consults with departmental Supervisor regarding repair scheduling and production delays.
- Follows up on and studies recurring failures to find solutions. Brings all problems that do not have a visible method of immediate solution to the attention of supervisor.
- Initiates immediate communication to supervisor when; a problem has no immediate solution; when an emergency breakdown requires more than four hours to repair.
- Repairs presses, folders, cutters, die cutters, stitcher, collator, rewinders, and other equipment.
- Trouble-shoots problems with production equipment and takes measures to solve the problems.
- Makes electrical repairs as their knowledge and experience allow.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities with the help of the machine’s Operator/crew.
- Performs safety measures in the design and installation of equipment.
- Understands company safety policy. Performs work to ensure equipment is within safety and governmental compliance.
- Informs co-workers of precautions and equipment. Trains others in the use of protective equipment when required.
- Performs other tasks as required.
- Works overtime when needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5 + years of experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION
- Machine shop fundamentals: welding, milling, lathes, precision measurement tools etc. preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Trouble shooting skills.
- Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions.
- Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Detail oriented.
- Specialized training in plumbing and electrical fundamentals (at least 2 years) preferred.
- Specialized training with Printing presses, KBA experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of all production processes, activities, equipment, materials, products preferred.
- Ability to anticipate problems and head them off.
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
- Manual dexterity for repetitive work.
- Frequent walking and standing.
