Schedule: Operations teams are required to be on call and ready to deploy 24/7 to ensure smooth operations.

Job Summary: The Farm Maintenance Manager is a highly skilled, hands-on role responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of farm feeding systems, pumps, equipment, and infrastructure across multiple locations throughout the United States. This position's primary focus is on farm installations, preventative maintenance, pump fabrication and repair, equipment inventory management, and troubleshooting operational issues to ensure efficient farm operations.


The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, concrete work, carpentry, and the safe use of power tools. This role offers significant autonomy, flexible scheduling based on operational needs, and the opportunity to contribute ideas that improve processes, equipment reliability, and system performance. No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and hands-on work. 


The Farm Maintenance Manager must be willing and able to travel, including emergency travel, to company locations throughout the United States as business needs require.

Key Responsibilities (others may be assigned as business needs dictate):

Farm System Installations

  • Lead and perform installation of farm feeding systems, including feed tanks, pumps, plumbing, electrical components, and related infrastructure.
  • Complete concrete work, light construction, carpentry, and equipment setup required for successful installations.
  • Coordinate and execute projects to support farm expansion, upgrades, and operational improvements.

Preventative Maintenance & Repairs

  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance programs for feeding systems, pumps, and farm equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity.
  • Perform routine inspections and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Pump Fabrication, Maintenance & Repair

  • Build, repair, install, and maintain pumps and related mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all pumps and equipment operate safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate spare parts inventory to support timely repairs.

Equipment & Inventory Management

  • Track and maintain inventory of pumps, maintenance supplies, tools, replacement parts, and equipment.
  • Implement systems for organizing, storing, securing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Source and procure tools, materials, and replacement components as needed.

Continuous Improvement & Operational Support

  • Identify and recommend process improvements that increase efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist with logistical planning for installations, maintenance projects, and equipment deployment.
  • Work collaboratively with farm operations teams to address maintenance needs and support production goals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance records, equipment documentation, warranties, and maintenance schedules.
  • Utilize company maintenance management software (CMMS) as required.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental standards.
  • Attend and complete all required meetings, training programs, and certifications.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and represent the company positively at all locations.


Qualifications:

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance, construction, agricultural operations, mechanical systems, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience using power tools and performing hands-on repairs.
  • Working knowledge of: Plumbing systems; Basic electrical systems; Concrete work; Carpentry; Mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Experience building and repairing pumps.
  • Experience troubleshooting pumps, equipment, and operational systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively, including emergency travel.

Preferred

  • Experience with agricultural feeding systems.
  • Experience with inventory management and maintenance planning.
  • Logistical planning and project coordination experience.
  • Experience with CMMS software.

Requirements

Work Environment:

This position works in both indoor and outdoor agricultural environments and may be exposed to changing weather conditions, dust, noise, machinery, chemicals, dairy, and livestock-related environments. Appropriate PPE must be worn as required.

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move across farm properties and facilities for extended periods.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching during inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or pull equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 75 lbs. with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity required for operating tools, machinery, diagnostic equipment, and computer systems.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated locations, and on uneven terrain.
  • Visual and auditory capability to identify equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and alarms.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, dirt, agricultural chemicals, and other environmental elements, with required PPE.

Salary Description
$35-42/hour
