JOB SUMMARY:
Mental Health Counselor is a fully licensed fulltime staff member responsible for providing mental health and substance abuse services for PIHC clients.

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
• Provide culturally competent individual and group counseling sessions in accordance with licensure/certification level.
• Conduct client consultations, psychosocial intakes, diagnostic interviews, and behavioral health screenings.
• Master’s level staff will submit documentation for review/signature by a fully licensed supervisor.
• Collaborate with psychiatry, HIV medical clinic, prevention, and client services teams to ensure integrated care.
• Deliver services primarily at one PIHC office, with flexibility to substitute at other locations as needed.
• Conduct random urine drug screens for clients enrolled in the outpatient recovery program (as applicable).
• Prepare and manage referrals to internal and external community resources.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Uphold state and agency confidentiality standards and ethical guidelines.
• Provide necessary information and documentation to the Utilization Review Specialist to support client care and coverage needs.
Summary of General Duties, Tasks, and Responsibilities:
• Participate in regular clinical supervision and team meetings.
• Engage in continuing education and training to maintain licensure and stay current with best practices.
• Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in outreach activities to engage potential clients and promote emotional wellness and recovery services.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate-level clinical interns, as assigned.
• Support agency events and community engagement efforts related to wellness and recovery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a social services or mental health setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field
- Fully licensed or license-eligible in Georgia
Experience
One year experience in social services or mental health agency and/or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
License/Licensure
Licensure required: LPC, APC, LCSW, LMSW, Licensed Psychologist, LMFT; fully licensed preferred.
